About the Author

Don Strachan, author of King of DiamondsDon Strachan has been playing baseball since age 5, catching frogs since he was 7 and chasing girls since before he could count birthdays. In between, he was writing. In the Sixties he was Managing Editor for the Los Angeles Free Press (the granddaddy of the underground press) and an Associate Editor at Coast magazine.

At Coast, he discovered the ecological crisis. He created Save the World, the cooperative environmental board game, and wrote an environmental column for Whole Life Times.

His articles have appeared in numerous national and regional magazines, including Rolling Stone, Crawdaddy and California. For two years he wrote a book review column for the Los Angeles Times. He sold his only screenplay and ghost-wrote two Ph.D.'s.

His fiction has appeared in Knight, Adam, Elite and the Los Angeles Star. He wrote serious articles for Chic (the uptown version of Hustler) and submitted erotic vegetables to Oui.

He served as Press Secretary to Marty, the Marijuana-Munching Mouse, and was a founding editor of St. John's Bread Wednesday Messenger (later Light Times), about which Abbie Hoffman said, "It's hard to read, man. Get a new mimeo."

Don resides at a clothing-optional hot springs and teaches Wassage, a healing form of warm-water massage. He also serves as an Intern for workshops in "Love, Intimacy and Sexuality."
